Carol has written a book about one of her previous adventures, but has received nothing but rejections from publishers so far. One of those publishers, however, wants to hire her to find a missing eccentric author. The author’s wife was killed six years ago, and just before his own disappearance, a young woman was found murdered, with pages from the author’s latest book stuffed into her mouth.
