  9. It is with much difficulty that I write this…I just want to let you know dear ASG friends that our precious Brutus passed away July 11. It was a day I’ve been dreading from the moment he came into my life almost 8 years ago.

    We had to make that most difficult decision to help him cross the bridge.
    His illness finally was too much for him to bear. Thankfully he had three good months after being told he was terminal but the last few weeks became more difficult. His quality of life diminished to the point we contacted a special vet who provides at home hospice and euthanasia. (I sent an email our own vet last week to let him know his patient of 8 years passed away and he didn’t even bother to reply)

    After day upon day of miserable pouring rain last Tuesday it was beautiful – sunny and not humid. We put his bed out on the deck and snuggled with him until the vet arrived. When he saw her he wagged his tail and greeted her with that friendly Pomeranian smile. She was very kind.
    She brought special delicious treats which he loved. We fed him the treats as she administered the injection. He laid on his bed and passed away with us petting and talking to him.
    The only comfort we have is knowing that he was here at his home surrounded by love and without fear.
    We buried him in the garden with our four cats

    We feel so empty and miss him beyond words. I don’t think I can go though this pain again.

    • Oh Diane I’m so sorry sweetheart that your beloved Brutus has passed away…it’s always difficult when we lose one of our fur babies but he got to spend his last special hours with his loving family, he’ll always be in your heart my friend, take care ?

    • Oh no, I was thinking about you Diane this week.
      Condolences from your beloved pet Brutus, Diane and Hubby of course.
      You will have a hard time in the coming time, the lack of his presence, the walk, his barking, it will have to wear off.
      How nice that he was allowed to die at home and that a special vet who specializes in this came to the house?
      But think back to the good years you had with Brutus and looked after so well all the time, I hope that will ease the pain.
      I wish you strength in the upcoming time Diane and Hubby.

    • Di I am so sorry to hear that Brutus has crossed the rainbow bridge it is hard to lose a family member and that is exactly what our furkids are, family. He will be waiting at the bridge to greet you in time.
