I finished this game yesterday, and I thought it was an interesting take – a fairy tale that’s set in the present time. The object-combining puzzles were straightforward and logical, but you need to keep track of what goes where in your head. The game does have a journal, but it only serves to highlight plot points.
The hidden object puzzles were challenging because the game was a bit too good in hiding the pieces. However, I do have one main gripe, which is the reuse of same areas for multiple HOPs. So the first time you find a location, you find a specific object, and then a chapter or two later, you find a different object of significance in exactly the same place. So the only thing blocking you finding the second object is the… plot? That seems silly.
Moving around the place is also a bit clunky, since the game lacks a map to jump around. There’s a lot of moving from room-to-room, which can be tiring, especially when you’ve found a clue that solves a puzzle all the way on the other side of the map.
Despite the complaints, this was still a fun way to kill some time. I’d give it a 2.5 or 3 stars out of 5.
P.S: As always, thanks to GameOwl for keeping all of this up.
